The European lottery has been making its mission lately to display and deliver always more appealing jackpots. Last Friday, the jackpot EuroMillions had on display was just a little shy of €145 million Usually the life-changing prizes come as a result of the beloved EuroMillions SuperDraws, but this time, it came after a long rollover streak ended by the luck of a single ticket holder from the UK.
Indeed, when the EuroMillions results came out for the draw of April 2nd 2021, fans of the European lottery from all over the world were checking their ticket to see if they matched the winning numbers (04, 21, 34, 40 and 47) as well as the two Lucky Star numbers (02 and 05). Only one of the participants to Friday’s draw found them on their tickets: the lucky Brit who has already staked a claim for the prize, according to National Lottery’s operator’s spokesman, Andy Carter. Camelot will be checking if the claim is valid and then proceed with payment of the mouth-watering jackpot of €144,755,907 (£122,550,350).
The fifth biggest ever lottery win in the UK, this prize is in Carter’s words “fortune which can make their dreams come true”. “What an Easter weekend for one lucky player,” he added. “We will now look to support the ticket-holder through the process and help them to start to enjoy their life changing-win.”
This is the second time this year that someone from the UK wins a EuroMillions jackpot. The first British win happened on New Year’s Day, when another lucky Brit took home €44million (£39 million). The UK has been one of the luckiest EuroMillions countries to date, being home to 111 jackpot winners as well as to some of the most famous ones like the Bayfords or the Weirs. These two couples have made the headlines several times with their extravagant purchases and shocking life decisions following the big cash windfall.
