The news is out! The EuroJackpot lottery officials have decided to make the game even more appealing. How? It’s simple! By adding a second weekly draw and by offering bigger jackpots. When will this happen? Starting March when the young European lottery celebrates its 10 years anniversary.
Indeed, EuroJackpot fans will be able to enjoy even more of their favorite game and have the chance to win bigger prizes starting March 2022. The lottery officials from the EuroJackpot organizing countries have agreed to celebrate the 10 years milestone of this pan-european game with a make-over.
The aim is to make the lottery even more appealing. To this effect, the EuroJackpot’s cap will increase from €90 million to €120 million. Besides, there will be also a Tuesday draw, besides the one happening on Friday. This means that EuroJackpot players will have the opportunity to enter their favorite lottery game twice a week and stand more chances of winning prizes.
Finding the right amount for the jackpot cap was not an easy decision, as Andreas Kötter, chairman of the Eurojackpot cooperation put it: “If you ask people on the street, everyone says a million is enough. But the truth is, the higher the jackpot, the higher the sales. If the jackpot stays at 90 million euros for several weeks, however, the momentum subsides. When the jackpot exceeds certain thresholds, interest also skyrockets, and dreams grow bigger. “On the other hand, Kötter is certain that lotteries with huge jackpots, displaying top prizes of several hundred million euros, quickly get into a wear and tear. “This is clearly shown by international developments. If the EuroJackpot cooperation does not want that, the product must be carefully developed. So we don’t make exorbitant jumps”, he says.
So, to summarize the changes:
- EuroJackpot will have a second weekly draw, held on Tuesday. The first draw by the new rules of the game will be held on Friday, March 25th, 2022. The first Tuesday draw will be on March 29th.
- The jackpot cap will grow from €90 million to €120 million.
- The guess range for Euro Numbers will be adjusted as well. It will be from 1 to 12, instead of 1-10.
- The odds of winning for prize categories where Euro Numbers are requested will change. For instance, the odds of winning for the jackpot are now of 1:95 million. Starting March 2022, the odds of winning will be of 1:140 million.
